Although Capitally is exteremly potent and superior to simialr tools, there´s one thing that such richness fucntionality trade off faces, for example, the Snowball Analytics GUI is cleaner and easier to use, though significantly less powerful. However, I think Capitally would benefit from a cleaner GUI, for example there left bar/column with the options of Summary, Portfolio..ect is wasted space, modern GUIs no longer use that type of visual display anymore in favour or simpler and cleaner space. This is similar to Revolut approach as well for cleaner interfaces without losing functionality.
Capitally is a platform which we’re slowly building out. Because of it’s power, it’s very hard to build a simplified interface, because simplifying means hiding things most of the time. As every investor is different, it’s pretty hard to tell what to hide and what to show.
So we opted for sane defaults and customizability. The menu is there for you to fill it with your own bookmarks - portfolio views that matter to you, reports you need and custom dashboards that will be available in the future. There will be more sections there, like Strategies.
And although I understand that Snowball may seem as a simpler interface, it’s absurdly hard to use if you want to get a specific bit of information from it that their authors don’t find important. Revolut is actually much worse in this regard, pushing things I don’t need or want and hiding the ones I use daily (and I do use Revolut daily).
And we’ll be slowly adding more prescribed interfaces that have a focused value proposition, like the Risk report released yesterday
Thanks, do not disagree, but this is less about painting, it is more about GUI, Capitally is by far the richest and most powerful tool but it looks and navigation are losing freshness when compared to other tools which are less powerful but are far easier to navigate, even with some having complex stuff as well like parqet..ect. Just saying it would benefit from an experienced designer, it is one of the things I am trying to balance when opting for Capitally or others.
Think what happened with Betamax and VHS. Thanks anyway for the good work
