An option to repeat a transaction on a recurring basis, like buying N-amount of stock every month at the market value, or paying a constant fee each quarter, or adding money to the account once a month.
For those who don’t import their transactions it allows to automate repetitive transactions.
But it’s biggest leverage is backtesting ideas, or preparing forecasts.
For backtesting, you can very quickly create a simulation of a long investing history.
For forecasting, you can generate complex future transactions that you will replace with the actual ones.
To make it more dynamic, it could be possible to use formulas - for example to calculate the fee as a percentage of value.
This would be very useful for me and other people in two scenarios:
Employee share ownership schemes were I put a certain amount of money in every month to buy shares in my employer and this amount is pretty much fixed
Pension plans or German savings plays where E.g. EUR100 a month into an ETF savings plan. It really is quite a faff to want to continually rebalance this manaully
How would you set it up so that you buy say EUR100 of a share every month? The issue with the clone function is that I know the transaction value (100) but not the quantity
In this case it won’t be helpful then. In the future, I’ll create some useful import templates that should simplify importing such value-based transaction from external sources.
And will consider adding this to the recurring transactions proposal as a requirement.
