Default currency settings

I have two small quality of life suggestions:

  • Would it be possible to set a different default setting for ‘currency’ when viewing the portfolio vs. individual stocks?
  • Could there be an option to display the ‘Asset price’ column in its listing currency? To me seeing a list of American, British and Euro stocks all denominated in one currency prices doesn’t make much sense, I’d prefer to see them all in their native currency as that are the actual prices I remember / recognize in the public market

I usually prefer to look at my portfolio using the ‘project currency setting’ (= euro in my case) to look at the portfolio as a whole in my home currency, but when I drill through to individual stocks it means that for example American stocks are now displayed in euros as well, for which I prefer the asset currency instead. So I keep switching back and forth between project and asset currency. Would be a nice convenience if I could set different currency defaults on different levels (portfolio vs. individual assets)

  1. Currency on levels - do you choose a specific currency on asset level, or use “Asset currency” option? Currently this option defaults to currency that is on the majority of assets (by count from what I recall).

The problem with setting per-level is that there are many levels - assets, currencies, accounts, etc.

Maybe a good solution would be a third option - “Auto” - which uses asset currency if ALL assets have the same (which would work for asset, currency, market levels), and uses project currency otherwise?

  1. It is like that for sorting and comparison, but a separate column could be added as well, or maybe better yet, both currencies could be displayed (so they’re sorted by normalized value)
  1. I use ‘asset currency’ on an asset level, say for example for a UK stock in GBX. But when I then switch back to portfolio and then the asset level currency makes my portfolio displayed in USD (because it is the majority indeed) and so I need to switch back to project currency (EUR). If I then try to view the price development of say Apple stock, I need to select asset currency again because price movements in EUR don’t make much sense to me.

Auto option would be great, project by default and asset currency if there’s only one type of currency left would work perfectly I think! Multiple levels might be complicated indeed.

  2. Great, separate column with asset price in native currency works has no downsides, I reckon

The asset/project currency and separate column with original stock price will be released in the v2.23.9.
