Hi there - really appreciate Capitally and all the features you are pushing out!
Any update on the Support for tracking Private Equity above. Added my vote ![]()
Hey @Tord , I’ll be able to share a more concrete plan once it moves to the Next phase.
I’m now refactoring the system to handle cash tracking, Avg cost basis, liabilities and options to name a few. I’ll probably some new transaction types in the process, so it will already be more feasable for P.E.
I already have a plan in place to include committed capital tracking in the new model.
So slowly, but surely, it will come out one day ![]()
Hey there, for those who’re looking forward to it, what types of transactions you would like to track? Do you use any apps or sheets for this purpose right now?
Hi I can share a more detailed sheet later (on holiday) but the below is a great start! Happy to discuss / prioritize. I can also share some sample more details with you directly via email.
Must-Have Features
Fund Overview
Fund name
Total commitment
Capital called to date
Remaining commitment
% called
Current NAV (based on latest valuation)
DPI, TVPI, IRR (calculated automatically)
Purpose: Summarize performance and exposure per fund.
Much of this I think is covered already in custom assets, but need some particulars
Transactions Log
Date
Type (Capital Call, Distribution, Valuation, Fee)
Amount (NOK)
Units/Shares (if applicable)
NAV per Unit (for valuations)
Notes (free-text context field)
Purpose: Core record of all cash and non-cash movements to support performance tracking and reconciliation. Each payment in does not award any further shares, simply prorata increases my total value per share.
Core Calculations
Paid-In Capital (sum of calls)
Distributions (sum of positive cash flows)
NAV (units Ă— NAV per unit)
IRR via XIRR()
DPI = Distributions / Paid-In
TVPI = (Distributions + NAV) / Paid-In
Nice-to-Have Features
Planned vs. Called Capital
Planned call date & amount
Actual call date & amount
Status (Planned / Executed)
Notes
→ Useful for liquidity planning and pacing analysis.
FX and Currency Support
Base and fund currency
Exchange rate per transaction
→ Helpful if investing across currencies.
Charts & Dashboards
Cumulative calls vs. distributions
Value over time
Portfolio-level DPI / TVPI

Thanks for this list, it’s really helpful! Once you have some time, you can send an example to support@mycapitally.com - I’d especially love to see a set of typical transactions throughout a fund’s life - so I can understand it better from your perspective and have something grounded to experiment with.
Just shared an example from a recent investment. Note that it has not started any distributions. I can provide other examples of this upon request.
Let me know when you have had a chance to review - feel free to take the rest directly via email.
I am assuming “traditional” funds at current where each fund is raised standalone; there is an emerging trend for evergreen funds / perpetual funds. Others may want funcitonality for this but I propose this is put on the roadmap.
