Support for tracking investments that cannot be priced

When you have a wealth manager, they often just send you the overall investment value once a month. So the only thing you know, is your cashflows (deposits and withdrawals) and monthly value.

Tracking them with the current price-based model is cumbersome, because you need to figure out a synthetic price, which is affected by all previous cashflows. Instead, Capitally could support it natively - so you can enter cashflows as Buy/Sell/Transfer and update current value with Account Balance.

As it’s adding a fair deal of complexity for a narrow use-case, it will only be available in the upcoming new pricing tier - same as Options and Private Equity.

Update - it’s already available in the Early Access.

Once enabled, you will see Value option in the Prices tab when editing an asset. Once enabled, you just add Buy/Sell transactions providing the value you’ve deposited or withdrew from the investment. And whenever you receive a statement, you update the current aggregate value by double clicking on a position or adding an Account Balance transaction.

Capitally will calculate your returns based on principal (cashflows from Buy/Sell/Transfer) and current value.

Opening and closing Account Balance will also be used for the principal.
