Account list is not in ABC order

  1. When I order my Accounts by name, the list is not in ABC order. I realized that it prioritizes folders over accounts, but that is not what I want to see.
  2. If the software handles Accounts and Account Folders differently, they should appear differently on the UI to avoid user confusion.

Folders are sorted the same as folders on hard drives - they always come first. Maybe they could have an icon to mark them as such.

If you want to see all your positions sorted by account, open the Positions tab and sort by position there.

OK

Let me explain why I have folders. In my country (Hungary), we have a tax-free account called TBSZ. We can open a new TBSZ each year. In banks that support this, I have multiple TBSZ accounts, which I organize in Capitally under a folder named after the bank itself, e.g., Erste/TBSZ 2021, Erste/TBSZ 2022, etc. In other banks that do not support it, I only have a single account, so there is no folder needed.

I wrote this for you to understand your customers better  . I can live with the folders’ first listing, but for me, it is not ideal, as my banks are not listed in ABC order. I just wanted to give you a heads-up that it might be confusing for customers like me.

A folder icon might help.

Thanks for taking your time to explain this! I’ll take this into account when making any improvements around accounts and folders.

Just a tip: consider introducing sub-accounts in the database. Although these TBSZ sub-accounts are only in Hungary, many banks worldwide offer sub-accounts, such as trading, investment, or joint accounts.

I know, I have sub-accounts too. But in general, that’s what account folders are meant for, so you can create any structure you want.

Accounts themselves cannot have sub-accounts, as otherwise you wouldn’t be able to tell what belongs to the main and what to the sub - at least on the main account level. And if you introduce distinction between main and subaccounts on that list, you basically end up with an account folder
