Unconfirmed Transactions

After importing transaction history, especially “SPLIT” transactions (which are added automatically) are showing up as unconfirmed … does this “unconfirmed” flag of the transaction have an effect on anything, like portfolio reporting or summary?
If not - is this really needed?

I now learned after importing one of my portfolios that the “unconfirmed” status potentially plays a role for tax-reporting

Questions:

  • my broker export, has all dividends payments included and I imported those - Is there a way to avoid that?
  • How do I know if the Dividend recorded is from import or automatic?
    Thanks!

The unconfirmed ones are automatic. The broker export is a much better source of truth - that’s why we mention to verify if these dividends actually reached your account, when and at what value. It doesn’t affect the tax report per-se, it’s just a reminder that you have some automated transactions that might not be 100% accurate and need to be checked.

If you import from a broker, we deduplicate them and we succeed, as long as the imported data has the date set to ex-dividend, or at least close to it. All built-in presets should do that.

unterstand - I have a ton of unconfirmed dividends and understand now why - Swissquote as broker records the “paid” date, since this is a report linked to account transactions. there can be a delta of up to a month (see example below): would you have an idea how to solve this?
I am fine to “mass-accept” the unconfirmed ones, but actually now saw that on the example of RY I did get duplicates in, as the dates were so far apart … but doing this manually across a portfolio with ~80 stocks is cumbersome …

A fix will be available soon to expand the detection date range a bit, but two months might be tricky (as we don’t want to have false-positives as well).

But as you’re importing dividends from the broker, you should delete the unconfirmed dividends - the broker ones are the more important here. You can filter the list of transactions to only see Unconfirmed ones and delete in bulk, or disable dividend auto-generation in Account → Positions setting.

Our “confirmation” system is not confirming the unconfirmed dividends, it simply doesn’t add the to the project if a manual/imported one already exists. Manual confirmations are for people who don’t get that information from the broker in an easy form.

thanks - am following your advice to “disable” the auto-generation … as indeed my brokers list dividends and I can upload them …
But this does not impact the “dividend"/income generation” reporting and insights - correct?

Yes, correct
